(VOV) -As many as 144 physicians from 22 countries are attending the 25th annual Rencontres de Blois (Blois Meeting) on Particle Physics and Astronomy near Paris from May 26-31.

The event was initiated by popular Vietnamese Prof. Tran Thanh Van, one of the three Asian scientists who have received the Tate Medal for International Leadership in Physics from the American Institute of Physics (AIP).

At the meeting the organising board introduced the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICIS), which will open in the central province of Binh Dinh this August thanks to the great contributions of Prof. Van and his colleagues, many of whom are leading scientists.

Eight Nobel Prize winners have accepted Prof. Van’s invitation to join the 9th Rencontres de Vietnam (Vietnamese Meeting) and the opening ceremony of the centre.

Vietnamese Ambassador Duong Chi Dung expressed hope that the centre will help attract both domestic and international scientists.

He praised Prof. Van’s relentless efforts in supporting disadvantaged children, providing scholarships for students in Vietnam and bringing world famous scientists to the country.
