(VOV) – The US Five Play jazz quintet will visit Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, Hanoi, Thanh Hoa and Vinh this month.
The five female players will perform first at Hoa Binh Theatre in HCM City on June 7, Tue Tinh Park two days later during the Nha Trang Sea Festival and in Hanoi, Thanh Hoa and Vinh.
The jazz quintet was established in 1999 by a group of musicians from the world-renowned Diva Jazz orchestra, including Sherrie Malicle (drummer), Tomoko Ohno (pianist), Noriko Ueda (bass), Jami Dauber (trumpeter) and Janelle Reichman (clarinet and saxophone player).
It has performed at major events in the US and many countries, including Israel, Japan, France, Germany, Spain and Portugal.
The jazz quintet’s first CD – On the Brink (Arbors Records) – was chosen by Nat Hentoff-a famous American music critic as the top CD in the rankings of the Jazz Times magazine in 1999.
Its next CD, Five Play Plus (Arbors Records), entered the top 10 CDs of the Coda Magazine in 2005.
Its latest CD-What the World Needs Now-was released in June 2008.
The jazz quintet’s performances in Vietnam are arranged by the US Consulate General to enhance cultural exchanges between the two countries.
