H1N1 Virus kills elderly man in Dong Thap Province

A 61-year-old man from Tam Nong District in the southern province of Dong Thap died from A/H1N1 Flu Virus on June 1, the same day he was admitted to Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City.


The patient was hospitalized on June 1 with severe lung infection. Tests carried out by the Pasteur Institute showed that he had contracted the A/H1N1 virus. Despite all doctors’ efforts to save him, he died on the same day with serious breathing failure and pneumonia.


Another serious case of A/H1N1 was a 24-year-old female worker from Hi-Tech Industrial Park in Ho Chi Minh City. The worker was taken to Cho Ray Hospital on June 1 also, where she received intensive care treatment but remains in severe condition and under a ventilator.


Doctors are trying their best to save her as just one day before hospitalization she had given birth.


At present her child is being taken care of in Tu Du Hospital.
