Viet Nam’s top badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh fought a major comeback to beat Spain’s Abian Pablo and book a place in the quarterfinals at the World Badminton Championship in Guangzhou, China.
Minh, the seventh seed at the tournament, lost the first set 15-21 but recovered strongly to seize the next two sets 21-9, 21-10.
Minh is expected to face a difficult quarter-final against Jan O Jorgensen of Denmark.
Although the Vietnamese rates higher according to official rankings, he has lost previous encounters with Jorgensen.-VNS
