The VN-Index rose to its highest since early this month, gaining 3.73 points, or 0.78%, from the session earlier to 482.82. Among the large caps, MSN closed the day with a mild decline while VNM, BVH, VIC and GAS advanced 0.7-2.23%.

PVT, which was put into the VN30 basket to replace the delisted PVF, shot up to the ceiling price of VND8,700 each with over 3.7 million shares changing hands. IJC and DIG also reported strong volumes of 1.5 million and one million shares respectively.

According to Viet Capital Securities Company, the release of the September CPI at above 1%, which was expected and priced in, did not appear to cause negative investor sentiment. Market breadth was apparently positive on the main bourse with the number of winners doubling that of laggards.

Liquidity jumped 66% to over VND1.2 trillion on the southern bourse, supported by large put-through transactions of MBB shares at a total value of VND320 billion between domestic investors. Foreign investors reduced trading for the second day this week but could pick up on net asset value (NAV) closing day. This group net sold a total of VND9 billion on both bourses, it said.

Meanwhile, the HNX-Index inched up 0.19 point, or 0.31%, to close at 59.81. Liquidity on the Hanoi market slightly increased against the previous day with around 26 million shares worth VND211 billion traded.

Viet Dragon Securities Company said that investor sentiment improved compared to early this month while liquidity was high on Tuesday. However, selling pressure turned strong at some speculative stocks and foreigners started to offload some blue-chips exchange traded funds strongly picked up during the recent portfolio rebalancing period.

“This means that the market is facing challenges in maintaining the uptrend in the coming sessions. If liquidity remains high, short-vision investors can disburse into good stocks during the correction phase,” the broker said.

Vietcombank Securities Company said that the gaining momentum accompanied by positive liquidity could be perceived as a good sign amid the shortage of supporting news. However, the momentum needs to be further reinforced and well-defined via the breakthrough stock prices and turnover as well as the boost from positive headlines about the economy and enterprises.
