(VOV) – Vietnam vehemently protests the use of chemical weapons against civilians as recently observed in Syria and urges all nations to obey the precepts of the Chemical Weapons Convention.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Luong Thanh Nghi issued the condemnation during a regular September 19 press briefing after being asked for a reaction to the UN chemical weapons team’s report from Syria and the Russian-US agreement detailing the destruction of Syrian chemical weapons.
Nghi said Vietnam welcomes the deal reached by Russia and the US on September 14 and hopes concerned parties will recognise the importance of implementing it in good faith to return peace and stability to the Syrian people.
