Ajax and Japanese youth to compete in Viet Nam


The Under-19 teams of Japan and Ajax Amstersdam will play at HCM City's international four-side tournament on January 6-10.

The Japanese squad have already sent their confirmation while the Viet Nam Football Federation is nearing completion of a contract with Ajax.


The visitors will compete with the U19s of the hosts and Barcelona at Thong Nhat Stadium.


The winners will receive US$100,000. The two runners-up will get $70,000 and $50,000 respectively.

The country suffered a 3-1 loss in the first leg and it is working hard to beat the Uzbeks and keep their slender hopes of qualification alive.


Vietnamese team wins int’l street football champs


The Vietnamese team Dat Vinh Tien won the International Tiger Street Football 2013 Championships after trouncing China's South Canton 8-0 in the final match in Ho Chi Minh City on November 10.

Before South Canton, Dat Vinh Tien defeated Floripa from Brazil 3-1.


The champion received 30,000 USD in prize money while the first runner-up South Canton pocketed 10,000 USD and the second one, Floripa, went home with 5,000 USD.


The one-day final round of the competition saw the participation of four Vietnamese teams and eight others from the United Kingdom, Brazil, Mongolia, China, Australia, Cambodia, Singapore and Malaysia. It was organised in knockout form.-
