Legislators to mull revised Constitution

HA NOI (VNS) — Lawmakers will discuss and approve an ordinance on the implementation of the revised 1992 Constitution at the 23rd session of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee that opened yesterday.


Opening the session, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung said the ordinance would play an important role in the implementation of the revised 1992 Constitution.


Reviewing the results of the sixth session of the National Assembly, which lasted for more than a month and ended in November, the deputies noted that the session had concluded successfully after decisions had been taken on several important issues, including the adoption of the revised 1992 Constitution, the revised Land Law and other socio-economic development issues.


They also approved an ordinance on the mobile police force, which regulates their functions, rules and responsibilities, as well as their use of weapons, explosive materials and support tools.


The lawmakers agreed that the mobile police force, under the People’s Public Security, would be the leading civil defence force to implement armed measures for national security, protecting society and for other tasks that require legal regulations.


The session also drew attention of the country’s voters and helped to consolidate the people’s trust in the Party and the government.


During the two-day session, deputies will discuss the preparations for the next (seventh) session of the National Assembly and approve the Standing Committee’s agenda and international co-operation programmes for 2014.—VNS
