VGP – The Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang will work to attract at least four million tourist arrivals, including 185,000 foreign arrivals, in 2014, according to the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The department said the locality also targets to earn VND1.3 trillion (US$61.1 million) in tourism revenue.
To fulfill the goals, the locality is increasing investment promotion and enhancing campaigns to introduce and strengthen its tourism trademark.
The province would also focus on upgrading the infrastructure of the tourism sector, while continuing its cooperation with neighboring localities such as Can Tho city, An Giang and Ca Mau provinces as well as those in the Mekong Delta Economic Region to boost tourism development.
The province will also pay more attention to the domestic market and design more policies to attract foreign tourists.
Last year, the province welcomed over 3.8 million arrivals, seeing a year-on-year increase of 8.2% and earned US$ 52.64 million in revenue or 27.6% increase./.
