This is the first year the provincial Youth Union has organized the Mid-Autumn Festival for children at grassroots level.
The Hai Duong provincial Youth Union on September 5 evening held the 2014 “Moon for children – Support for school attendance” program at Thanh Mien district’s Cultural Center.
Mr. Le Thanh Van, Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, and representatives of the provincial departments and Thanh Mien district leaders attended the event.
More than 1,000 children from Thanh Mien district’s communes and towns enjoyed a musical program performed by the Young Shoots Art Group of the provincial Children’s House, participated in a lively scene of Cuoi and the Moon fairy, played folk games, and savored nearly 20 feast trays cooked by some primary and junior high schools of Thanh Mien district.
At the program, the Central Team Council awarded Kim Dong prize to Bui Phuong Thao of class 5A, Van To Primary School (Tu Ky); Kim Dong Publishing House offered eight Doraemon scholarships, worth VND1 million each, to children overcoming difficulties to learn well; and the provincial Youth Union and the provincial Team Council presented 50 gifts, worth VND300,000 each, to disadvantaged children.
Many agencies, departments, and local authorities also offered gifts to the children.
This is the first year the provincial Youth Union has organized the Mid-Autumn Festival for children at grassroots level, and this program will be alternately held in the following years.
