UN journalists hail Vietnam’s media coverage on health issues

PANO – The UN journalist delegation held a meeting to share and exchange information and experience in health services communication activities with Vietnam’s journalists at the Ministry of Health after visiting a number of health facilities and a field trip to Dien Bien province.

The delegation, including journalists of major newspapers from the USA, UK, Canada, etc., chose Vietnam because the country has made noticeable efforts in achieving the millennium goals of the United Nations.


The purpose is to learn about Vietnam’s health system, the implementation of the UN millennium goals and the immunization programs in the country. This is also an opportunity for foreign and local journalists to exchange and share experience in conducting dissemination activities concerning medical issues. Besides, the delegation also highly evaluated the theory using methadone for addicts which is highly effective shown in the low possibility of HIV/AIDS transmission, reducing the influence of heroin, and gradually helping addicts quit drug.
