OV girl wins German Youth U10 Individual Chess Champs

(VOV) -Bui Ngoc Han Julia has won the girls’ German Youth U10 Individual Chess Championships in Oberhof, Germany.


Thanks to her outstanding performance,the German Chess Federation has chosen her to compete at the World Chess Championships in Dubai, UAE this December.


Born in 2003 to a Vietnamese family in Dresden, Han showed a deep affection for playing chess at a very early age.


She won the first prize at the U8 chess tournament in Dresden when she was five and two years later bagged the gold medal at the U8 event in the German state of Sachsen.


Her bother Bui Lam Hai also plays the game very well and has earned several championship titles in Dresden and was the runner-up at the Sachsen tournament in 2010.

Han’s achievements, as well as Nguyen Kim Mai Thi’s Falling Walls Lab award and Duong Kieu Trang’s gold medal at the European Junior Diving Championships, show the remarkable success that has been gained by the second generation of Vietnamese in Germany.
