(VOV) -Vo Huy Cuong, Deputy Head of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), met with Vuwani Ndwamato, Director of the South African Department of Air Transport in Pretoria on May 30.

They discussed measures to promote civil aviation cooperation and signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in this connection.

Under the MoU, the two sides agreed on the final content of the Draft Agreement on Air Transport and pledged to submit it to their governments for approval as early as possible.

The 22-article Agreement regulates the duties and responsibilities of the two countries within their laws and the International Convention on Civil Aviation (ICCA) regarding transport right, air security, flight frequency, taxes and fees and payment methods.

Cuong said this was the two countries’ first round of negotiations to establish their civil aviation relations.

Once the agreement is approved, the two airlines will prepare plans to cooperate or work with the third countries to provide flights between South Africa and Vietnam, he added.
