GIA LAI (VNS)— The Central Highlands province of Gia Lai yesterday held a memorial and burial service for remains of 86 Vietnamese volunteer experts and soldiers repatriated from Cambodia.
These people lost their lives in the neighbouring country during the war.
The province’s search team found the remains during the 2012-13 dry season at various sites across the three northeastern Cambodian provinces of Ranatakiri, Stung Treng and Preah Vihear.
Over the past years, the provincial research team in co-ordination with Cambodia’s local authorities and people has repatriated the remains of 1,230 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who laid down their lives in the three provinces. — VNS
