HA NOI (VNS)– Designer Hoang Minh Ha became the first winner of fashion designing contest Project Runway Viet Nam thanks to his collection inspired by the Paris sunshine.

The final round took place on Sunday in HCM City with three designers going head-to-head after being selected from thousands of contestants who competed during five months.

The short-listed designers had the chance to visit Paris to find inspiration for their final collections entitled Paris Inspiration.

While Ha, a designer from the Central Highlands province of Dac Lac, was inspired by yellow sunshine, the designs of HCM City’s Lam Gia Khang portrayed night light in Paris and Chau Chan Hung, also from HCM City, drew ideas from Dior’s garden.

Ha’s collection, which will be featured in Haper’s Bazaar magazine, includes 12 cut-out dresses in white, orange and yellow. Beside VND500 million (US$24,000) cash prize, Ha will receive several opportunities to improve himself as a professional designer. — VNS
