Mr. Nguyen Anh Cuong, Member of the Hai Duong provincial Party Committee‘s Standing Board, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, on the morning of October 17 visited the stall selling Thuong Dat tomatoes in Big C Hai Duong supermarket.
Tomatoes are grown on over five hectares in Thuong Dat commune (Hai Duong city) following a safe vegetable production process under the scientific topic of “Developing a safe fresh fruit and vegetable production model (VietGAP) in accordance with a chain linkage from producing to selling products”.
The topic is undertaken by the Sub-department of Agro-forestry and Aquatic Product Quality Management (Hai Duong Department of Agriculture and Rural Development) to develop safe tomato and courgette production models following VietGap process and organize product sale in supermarket systems.
Thuong Dat tomatoes have been granted VietGAP certificate and officially sold in Big C Hai Duong supermarket since October 12. They are expected to have been on sale in 14 Big C supermarkets in the North by the end of October 26.
Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Anh Cuong appreciated the sale of Thuong Dat tomatoes in supermarkets. He directed the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Department of Science and Technology to further promote the study and development of production models for other safe agricultural produce towards VietGAP, improve the quality, and find stable outlets for the products.
