Quang Ngai Provincial People’s Committee, June 18 held a conference to review the six year period of joining in the World Trade Organization (2007-2012).
As reported by Director of Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen Xuan Thuy, Quang Ngai economy has increased stably and significantly. GDP went up from 4.7 trillion VND in 2007 to nearly 10 trillion dong in 2012, an annual growth of 15 percent, which was higher than that in the period of 2001-2005( 9.86 percent.)
The province expanded the proportion of construction-industry in its economic structure from 36 percent in 2007 to 51 percent in 2012.
After entering WTO, the province saw a significant achievement in im-export activities, export turnover rose 7 times from 58 million USD in 2007 to over 428 million USD in 2012.
Besides, the nation tax collection jumped up from 2,300 in 2007 to 21,000 billion dong in 2012.
According to Mr. Tuong, Director of Department of Foreign Affairs, Quang Ngai achieved considerable results in foreign relation and cooperation. So far, it has attracted 197 programs and projects capitalized by Non-Government Organizations at amount of 267 billion VND.
The works of investment promotions were also improved and strengthened further in side and out side the country.
Chairman of Quang Ngai Provincial People’s Committee Mr. Cao Khoa revealed several challenges and shortcomings as entering WTO.
The important work is that districts and departments have to sit together reviewing policies and making them simple as well as adjusting them as requirements of WTO.
Chairman Cao Khoa called his partners to concentrate on three innovational mission of Quang Ngai Government about the development of industry, urban and human resource.
