Phu Quy Island centre ready to serve

The salvage and rescue centre of Phu Quy Island District off central Binh Thuan Province began operations on Monday.


The centre is equipped with professional rescue transportation services.


The province’s Border Guard Command invested more than VND80billion (US$3.8 million) to build the centre on nearly 7,000sq.m of land in Tam Thanh Village.

Prudential UK gifts school kits to needy


Prudential UK recently presented books and school bags to 730 needy children in Bac Ninh Province and 270 others in a number of provinces in the northern delta region. The gifts were valued at US$22,100. Prudential also donated books to libraries at four schools in Bac Ninh Province.

$129.2 million collected in road fees


The Road Maintenance Fund has collected more than VND2.7 trillion (US$128.5 million) of road maintenance fees from automobile owners. The fees have been collected since January 1. The national fund targets collection of VND4.4 trillion (US$209.5million) from car owners this year.

City approves craft-village development


The HCM City People’s Committee has approved a project to preserve and develop craft villages until 2015. The city will focus on developing traditional craft villages in suburban areas to promote tourism.

Ministry asks permission to export sugar


The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has asked the Ministry of Industry and Trade to create favourable conditions to help businesses export stockpiled sugar. The ministry estimates that 220,000 tonnes of sugar will be stored in manufacturers’ warehouses in the country from July to October.
