PANO – Lieutenant-General Phuong Minh Hoa, Commander of the Air Defence and Air Force Service, presented certificates of merit to two pilots and a flight control team of Regiment 910, under the Air Force Officers School, for saving a jet in a training flight.
As reported on the People’s Army Newspaper, on July 12th, Regiment 910 operated 58 training flights for its trainees at Dong Tac Airbase in Phu Yen province.
After finishing a dogfight under instructions of his teacher Captain To Anh Tuan on board, trainee Sergeant Luong Nguyen Huu Phuoc flew the jet to the airbase.
However, the jet malfunctioned and the pilots were unable to land it.
With instructions by the flight control team, including Colonel Duong Hong Truong, Commander of Regiment 910, and Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Anh Tuan, the unit’s Deputy Commissar, the two pilots kept calm and safely landed the jet.
Apart from getting a certificate, Phuoc was also promoted to Sergeant-Major.
