PANO – Marking the War Invalids’ and Martyrs’ Day, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and Kien Giang provincial leaders on July 22nd offered incense to martyrs at the Phu Quoc district martyrs’ cemetery, visited the Phu Quoc Prison historical relic site and presented gifts to two policy beneficiaries in Phu Quoc Island district, Kien Giang Province.


The National Assembly Deputy Chairwoman also took part in a ceremony to give 40,000 cups of milk to poor children in the locality.


* The same day, Lieutenant General Dao Duy Minh, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics, inquired after and gave presents, worth VND 1 million each, to two heroic Vietnamese mothers and 17 martyrs’ mothers in Quang Ngai Province and 31 policy beneficiaries in Quang Nam Province. He also presented VND 22 million to two care centers for people who had rendered good service to the cause for national salvation in the provinces.

* A mission from the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, led by its Deputy Chief Major General Phan Van Giang, offered 10 gifts to typical policy beneficiaries in Dong Hoi city, Quang Binh Province and paid tribute to martyrs at the Tam Co Cave relic site and the Tho Loc Martyrs’ Cemetery. Talking to local war invalids, sick soldiers and martyrs’ relatives, Major General Giang wished them to continue bringing into play the good tradition of Uncle Ho’s Soldiers to make further contributions to the development of their home town.


* Meanwhile, on behalf of the Defence Ministry, Major General Nguyen Trong Nghia, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics, presented 90 gifts to war invalids and sick soldiers at Kim Bang War Invalids Sanatorium in Ha Nam Province. He also gave VND 11 million to the sanatorium and appreciated its staff’s efforts to surmount all difficulties to fulfill their assigned tasks, considering it a token of gratitude to those who sacrificed themselves for the cause of national salvation and protection.


* The Ministry of National Defence on July 22nd presented 128 gifts, valued at VND 1 million each, to those at the War Invalids Sanatorium No.4 and Nghe An provincial Sanatorium for war invalids.


* A gratitude house of VND 95 million was presented to Vu Thi Min, the wife of martyr Nguyen Van Chuyen, in Ha Xa village, Cam Doai commune, Cam Giang district, Hai Duong province on July 22nd, by the General Department of Politics and local authorities. The martyr’s widow was also given various essential commodities.


* The Chemistry Arm and authorities in Thai Binh and Hoa Binh provinces handed over 5 gratitude houses, worth VND 60 million each, to war invalids, relatives of martyrs and people suffering from Agent Orange/Dioxin in the resistance war against American imperialists.


* 10 gifts, worth VND 5 million each, were given to war invalids and sick soldiers at the Thuan Thanh War Invalids Sanatorium in Bac Ninh Province by the Engineering Arm on July 22nd. The Arm also presented this centre a television set of over VND 12 million.


* Nearly 400 staff and young volunteers of Ho Chi Minh City and martyrs’ relatives offered incense and flowers for 99 young volunteers of the city who died in the fight to protect the Southwestern border at the Monument in Long Phuoc commune, Ben Cau district, Tay Ninh province, on July 22nd. The same day, the Volunteer Youth Patronage Foundation presented gifts to 144 families of volunteer youth martyrs.


* Kon Tum provincial military command on July 20th handed over a VND 120 million house of comradeship to Captain U Nap of Regiment 990.


* In Dien Bien Phu city, Dien Bien Province, Viettel Group offered 56 gifts, valued at VND 35 million, to war invalids, relatives of policy beneficiaries and staff members of the group whose parents are martyrs or war invalids in provinces of Dien Bien, Son La, Hoa Binh, Lai Chau and Lao Cai provinces.
