Thanks to the program of national target for constructing new rural areas, lots of routes in remote and mountainous areas with ethnic compatriots have been concreted. This not only facilitates the transportation but also contributes to developing economy in economic regions with ethnic compatriots.
According to Phu Yen directing board for constructing new rural areas, so far, the entire province has had 13 out of 45 communes with ethnic compatriots reach the criterion numbered 2 in rural traffic, including 4 out of 11 mountainous communes in Dong Xuan district, 6 out of 14 communes in Son Hoa district, 2 out of 11 communes in Song Hinh district and 1 out of 1 commune in Phu Hoa district.
In Dong Xuan district, within the three years from 2012 to 2014, 73 rural roads were concreted in the communes with ethnic compatriots; the total length is 13.4km. Lots of roads stretch to remote regions. As for Song Hinh District’s people’s committee, among the entire work items serving the development of ethnic compatriots, traffic ones bring about the most obvious changes. 30km of roads in the communes, hamlets have been completed, not only promoting the trade exchange, produce consumption but also consolidates the entire population’s solidarity.
Among the 7 mountainous districts, Son Hoa is the only one with the highest percentage of communes reaching criterion numbered 2, at 77%. Here at this locality, the concreted roads have stretched to the most remote communes namely Ca Lui, Phuoc Tan…Son Phuoc Commune (Son Hoa district) has 95% ethnic compatriots of the entire population. From being a particularly difficult commune, so far, Son Phuoc has become one of the typical communes in the district in terms of hunger eradication and poverty reduction; with the proportion of poor households being reduced from 35.23% (in 2011) to 15.18% (in 2014). Mr. So Van Minh, Secretary of the district’s people’s committee cum chairman of Son Phuoc commune’s people’s council, let known: the program of constructing new rural areas has helped 14 roads in 5 hamlets, villages with the total length of over 32km to become more immense. Thanks to the roads, sugar cane plants, rice and half-bred cows in the commune have become highly economic value products. The inhabitants’ income has also clearly increased; merely the sugarcane plants have brought about the income of 200 million dongs/ crop to 500 million dongs/crop.
According to Mr. Phan Huu Dai, head of the provincial ethnic groups’ board, the program of national target for constructing new rural areas with the focal point of consolidating roads is creating major changes to the ethnic compatriots. In the coming time, to enhance the rate of progress for concreting inter-hamlet roads, inter-village roads, so as to promote economic development in the regions with ethnic compatriots, the PPC has allowed the districts of Dong Xuan, Song Hinh and Son Hoa to use the capital source from Program 135 in the year 2015 so as to support the investment into infrastructure, developing production in particularly difficult communes, border communes, communes of zone and village safety and those villages in particular difficulties.
