Yesterday Vietnamese diplomatic missions in many countries in the world organized various events to celebrate the National Day (September 2).
In Sydney, Australia, the Vietnamese Embassy held a ceremony to welcome the special day with the participation of Australia’s high-ranking government officials, parliamentarians and experts, and overseas Vietnamese people.
The Ambassador also highlighted the comprehensive development of the Vietnam-Australia relationship since the two countries established their diplomatic ties four decades ago, with Australia being the 8th largest trade partner of Vietnam.
On the same day, the Vietnamese Embassy in Turkey conducted a ceremony to mark the National Day, with the participation of Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bülent Arınç, officials from the Turkish Foreign Ministry and the Grand National Assembly, representatives from a number of ministries and diplomatic missions, and Vietnamese communities in Turkey.
Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Turkey Nguyen The Cuong reviewed the Vietnamese nation’s glorious history, and great achievements in the country’s cause of industrialization and modernization.
Ambassador Cuong emphasized that Vietnam is going ahead with international integration and bringing into full play its role as a responsible member of the international community.
He also highly appreciated the sound development in multifaceted relations between Vietnam and Turkey, with two-way trade in 2012 amounting to US$1.2 billion and was likely to continue growing.
Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bülent Arınç, said, “I am very glad that this is the second time I act on behalf of the Turkish government to join the celebrations of Vietnam’s National Day. I really admire and highly appreciate the achievements gained by the Vietnamese in the past years as well as the position of the country in the region and the world. I wish the two countries’ relations will further develop to a new high level”.
Also yesterday, the celebration organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in Phnom Penh, Cambodia saw the presence of Chairman of the Cambodian National Assembly Heng Samrin, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Men Som Ol and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Hor Namhong, among royal representatives and others.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador Ngo Anh Dung laid special emphasis on the close relationship between Vietnamese and Cambodian people, expressing his belief that the bonds will be preserved and developed forever.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Hor Namhong conveyed congratulations to Vietnam on the occasion and wished the traditional friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the two peoples to further develop.
In Algeria, a solemn ceremony also took place on Monday with the attendance of Algerian Minister of War Veterans Cherif Abbes and Minister of Industry, SMEs and Investment Promotion Mohamed Benmeradi.
Meanwhile, the Vietnamese Embassy in Chile hosted a banquet on September 1 to celebrate the National Day.
Attending the event were representatives from the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ambassadors from diplomatic corps, members of the Vietnam-Chile Friendship and Cooperation Association as well as Chilean enterprises and people.
Addressing the ceremony, Ambassador to Chile Ha Thi Ngoc Ha stressed that Vietnam is now a party to negotiations for the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreements, which will create the largest free trade market in Asia-Pacific.
The Vietnam-Chile relationship has also grown both in depth and width in recent years with two-way trade reaching a record US$602 million last year in 2012, Ha said.
Also on Sunday, Vietnamese Ambassador to France Duong Chi Dung hosted a banquet on the occasion of the National Day for representatives of the French Foreign Ministry, foreign diplomatic corps and the overseas Vietnamese community in the country.
Ambassador Dung said the bilateral ties between Vietnam and France have unceasingly grown over the past four decades, and the forthcoming visit to France by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung later this month is expected to establish a strategic partnership between the two countries.
