Chairman of Quang Ngai provincial people’s committee Cao Khoa on July 12 chaired a workshop of reviewing the six-month traffic accident situation in Quang Ngai province, where has over 120 km national highway in the central region of Viet Nam.
According to the figures reported by Department of Transportation (DoT), the percentage of traffic accidents in the first six months of the year decreased 20 percent compared with that in the same period last year, while comparing to last period, the proportion of dead toll declined 6.1 percent, accounting for 77 people and the injured went down 47.5 percent, making up 42 people.
As released by DoT’s leader, the problem of traffic accidents generally decreased compared with that in the same period last year, but “those still occurred seriously in the year’s Q.2 and the number of dead toll stood at the high level e.g in Nghia Hanh district and some mountainous districts.”
The majority of road crashes is caused by human errors. The main causes remain speeding, drink driving and the low awareness of local residents in travelling.

He also asked DoT to push up checking drinking-drivers or any drivers who may use drugs and closely control the quality of driver training and license.
The provincial police will be responsible for implementing 24-hour patrol on roads to reduce the bad driving habits of travelers as well as make sure safety and security, while media agencies are also chaired to frequently propagate several traffic laws, rules and improve awareness of local residents in travel and transport.
