QĐND - Saturday, July 27, 2013, 23:43 (GMT+7)
A Vietnamese delegation visited to three Latin American countries from July 17-26 to boost foreign information service.
The delegation was led by Pham Van Linh, deputy head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Popularisation and Education and deputy permanent head of the Steering Committee on External Information Service.
In Nicaragua, the Vietnamese delegation attended the 34th Sandinista Revolutionary Day in Nicaragua. It was received by Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega, who praised the achievements gained by the Vietnamese people in their struggles for liberation in the past and during the national construction and development at present, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
These results have contributed to improving the position and prestige of Vietnam in the international arena, Ortega said.
During its stays in Brazil and Argentina, the Vietnamese delegation met with officials in charge of communications and representatives from several news agencies and televisions.
At the meetings, Linh highlighted the importance of external information service in the context of Vietnam’s deeper international integration.
Latin America is also one of important regions in Vietnam’s external information service as it offers Vietnam the special sentiment in the country’s past struggle for liberation and the current national construction and development, Linh said.
The Brazilian and Argentine hosts stressed Latin American people’s interest in information on Vietnam’s industrialisation and modernisation.
In an interview granted to the Vietnam News Agency, Linh affirmed that the delegation learnt more about these countries’ demand for information on Vietnam, and also exchanged specific measures to further raise the quality and efficiency of external information service in order to promote Vietnam’s image in the Latin American region.
