(VOVworld) – The General Statistics Office reports that the Consumer Price Index in August increased 0.83% from July, the highest since the lunar new year festival.
Highest increases were recorded in the price of medicine, services, food, and petrol. Vietnam’s CPI since the beginning of the year has increased 3.35%, 7% from the target set by the Government for 2013. Economist Ngo Tri Long says: “I think that the State will be able to control prices during the remainder of the year. The major concerns, however, are slow economic recovery and stagnant production. The Government is exerting efforts to stimulate investment and consumption and reduce inventories.”
