BTO – Hitherto, all localities in Binh Thuan have harvested the 2013 winter-spring crop with stable production results. Remarkably, some crop plants generated better productivity than prior crops, including 201,111 tonnes of rice (a year-on-year increase of 3.1%), 26,529 tonnes of maize (up 7.5%), 15,302 tonnes of vegetable (up 17.9%), 2,299 tonnes of beans of all kinds (up 18.5%), 2,033 tonnes of peanuts (up 19%).

Besides finishing the winter-spring harvest, the localities continue to cultivate and take care for the crop plants of the 2013 summer-autumn crop. So far, the entire province has cultivated 89,885 ha for this summer-autumn crop, gaining 100.11% of the crop plan.

Due to late rainy season, the sowing rice-seeds was delayed about 10-15 days compared to the same period last year in most localities, but a one-month delay in Tuy Phong district.

Although some localities including Ham Tan and Ham Thuan Nam districts have been much suffered from the impact of long-lasting drought, the cultivated area of the whole province has been increased and exceeded the plan compared to previous time thanks to the adjustable and proper irrigation. Otherwise, a minority of other crop plants are in low progress of cultivation because the irrigation water runs out of control.
