Poor families get help to cultivate rubber

From 2009 onwards, the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum has supported more than 2,000 poor households to cultivate nearly 2,000 hectares of rubber.

The assistance is given to families legally classified as poor who have: land that rubber can be cultivated on; land use rights for the property; and sufficient labour force to engage in cultivation.

Such families are given saplings of new rubber varieties, pesticides and fertiliser for cultivation for the first three years.

So far this year, the province has allocated VND12.5 billion ($593,000) for helping more than 1,200 poor families begin rubber cultivation.
