A large fire broke out at a Taiwanese-invested firm in HCM City named Pou Yuen Vietnam Ltd. Company early this morning (August 21).
According to initial reports, when a group of workers who had just finished the third shift left at 4:00 a.m, the fire started in the office area and quickly spread throughout entire building block.
Despite the efforts of workers and firefighters to put out the flames, the fire burned out of control until 9:30am, when it was subdued.
Pou Yuen Vietnam Ltd. Co., located in Binh Tan District, specialises in the production of sports shoes and apparel products for exports and employs over 8,000 workers. There was previous fire at the company, which occurred on May 15, on second floor of the company’s 900-square metre shoe sole production workshop.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
