QUANG NINH (VNS)— Police in northeastern Quang Ninh Province yesterday seized 300 kilos of sturgeon being illegally transported from the province’s Mong Cai border gate to Ha Long City.
The lorry driver, Nguyen Van Thong, 38, of Ha Noi City’s Phu Xuyen District failed to provide legal documents authorising the goods origins.
The sturgeon was temporarily seized for further investigation.
Recently, authorities have detected a large number of sturgeons being smuggled into Viet Nam via the Hoanh Mo and Mong Cai border gates. —VNS
