Viet Nam’s top chess player Le Quang Liem on Tuesday continued his excellent performance at the Chess World Cup by drawing with the defending champion Peter Svidler of Russia in the first-leg game of the fourth-round match.
Liem started with white but could only draw against Svidler after 38 moves in the biennial tournament at Tromso, Norway.
The two players were set to face even more pressure in the return leg late yesterday (Ha Noi time).-VNS
