Vietnamese International Grandmaster Le Quang Liem dropped nine spots to 42nd place, according to the latest ranking list of 100 top players released by the World Chess Federation early this month.
The 22-year-old player has an Elo rate of 2712, down 10 points compared to last month.
HCM City-born Liem’s decline comes from his poor results at the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in South Korea’s Incheon City last month.
Viet Nam managed to win a gold medal in the blitz mixed team event and a bronze medal in the rapid mixed event, but failed at the individual events.-VNS
