US rescue workers scrambled on Friday to find two children missing and feared dead after a twin-engine aircraft crashed into two houses in Connecticut.

NEW YORK CITY, New York: US rescue workers scrambled on Friday to find two children missing and feared dead after a twin-engine aircraft crashed into two houses in Connecticut.
The Rockwell International Turbo Commander 690B crashed on approach into Tweed New Haven airport before noon (1600 GMT), the Federal Aviation Administration said.
It was on a short flight from Teterboro airport outside New York City, it said in a statement.
Local media said the aircraft hit two clapboard houses in a densely populated section of East Haven, with two children – one about one year old, the other 13 – inside one of the homes.
Also unaccounted for were the pilot of the aircraft – and it was unclear how many passengers might have been on board.
“We haven’t recovered anybody at this point. We presume a bad outcome,” said East Haven fire chief Douglas Jackson, quoted on the Hartford Courant website.
Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy said two bodies had been spotted as the search effort unfolded.
The Turbo Commander 690B, a light twin turboprop business aircraft, seats seven to 10 passengers and crew in a pressurised cabin.
East Haven, population 30,000, is 80 miles (130 kilometres) northeast of New York City, on Long Island Sound.
