Vietnam decodes genome of 36 rice varieties

On August 28, the Ministry of Science and Technology in collaboration with the Embassy of the United Kingdom held a workshop to announce research results of genomes of 36 Vietnamese rice varieties.

The genome research on 36 rice varieties has been decoded successfully and is being considered an invaluable resource which was decoded by research institutes, universities and scientists and which will help in biological applications for protecting highly valuable genes.


This research was carried out from January 2011 to June 2013 in the framework of an International Cooperation Program between the Vietnam Ministry of Science and Technology and the United Kingdom Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council.
