Hanoi delegation visits Beijing to boost ties

A high-ranking delegation from Hanoi is in China on a visit aimed to foster the relationship between the Vietnamese capital and Beijing, and between the two nations in general.


During the visit, which started on September 8 and will be wrapped up tomorrow, Politburo member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Pham Quang Nghi, who leads the delegation, had a meeting with Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli in Beijing on September 10, focusing on boosting ties.


At the meeting, Nghi, who is also Secretary of the Hanoi municipal Party Committee, said that the Party, Government and people of Vietnam always attach importance to developing the traditional friendship with China, considering it a long-term policy and a top priority in the country’s foreign policy.


Nghi added that his visit aims to contribute to consolidating the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and promoting links between the two capital cities.

He also expressed his pleasure at great achievements China has gained in its national building and development under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC).


Zhang Gaoli, who is a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, congratulated Vietnam on the outcomes the country has achieved in the renewal process and the path towards socialism under the leadership of the Vietnamese Party and Government.


He affirmed that the CPC and the Government of China have attached much importance to developing the cooperative friendship with Vietnam.


The CPC official also said he hoped that Nghi’s visit will contribute to enhancing political trust and promote new developments in the relations between the two Parties and States as well as the two capital cities.


Earlier on September 9, Nghi held talks with Guo Jinlong, Politburo member and Secretary of the Beijing Party Committee, during which host and guest briefed each other on the situation of each Party, State and capital city, and discussed measures to strengthen cooperation and friendship between the two cities.
