Hundreds of examples of the Ao Dai (traditional long dress) from Vietnam’s three best known designers were shown at Chambord Castle in France.
The fashion show attracted the participation of Miss Vietnam 2010, Ngoc Han, Miss Sea Lam Thu Hang and famous models like Thanh Tu, Duy Hung and Phuong Lien.
The designers use rare Vietnamese materials such as brocade, silk and particularly crocodile skin as well as different kinds of horn, to make the dresses, which really left a great impression on viewers.
Vietnamese Ambassador to France Duong Chi dung said the event got plenty of attention from the public and was among the events held to mark the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and France. He added that after this success, the embassy will hold this show in Paris again next year.
After the experience of designer, Minh Hanh this year, the 2014 Ao Dai show will be even more attractive, the ambassador said. He also reminded everyone that Minh Hanh had received the French government’s “Knight of Art & Literature” title in 2006 for her many contributions to fashion in France.
French poet Lopez Emili said this event will help him understand more about Vietnamese culture, noting that it indicates Vietnam’s further integration into the world.
