HCM CITY (VNS) — Customs at HCM City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport yesterday arrested two Australian nationals for illegally trafficking 11 packs (3.5kg) of heroin.
Customs have since handed over the two suspects and the seized heroin to local police for further investigation.
The incident adds to nine illegal drug trafficking cases dealt with by airport customs this year; who have arrested 13 suspects and seized 23.67kg of drugs, including more than 2,000 methamphetamine pills worth VND69.6 billion (US$3.3 million).
The case also follows a recent arrest by police in Son La Province on Friday, who caught Vang A Lenh, 21, illegally transporting 20 packs (7kg) of heroin. The police have two other suspects in custody for alleged involvement in the crime.
