PANO – Thousands of Vietnamese people of different ages on October 6th gathered at 30 Hoang Dieu Street, Ba Dinh district, Hanoi to pay homage to General Vo Nguyen Giap.
Though the General’s family announced they would open their house at 14:30 to receive Vietnamese compatriots who came to offer incense to the Commander-in-chief and the eldest brother of the Vietnam People’s Army, a large number of people stood near the house’s fence and showed their sadness early in the morning. Some still did not believe the fact that the General had died and they came here with the hope that it was wrong.
“Since I knew that the General died, I come here everyday with a hope that he is still there. My comrades planned to have a get-together this October 10th and inquire after General Giap and his family on that day, but…”, Pham Quang Vinh, a former soldier of the Capital Regiment said in tears.
