Chang’e 3 is a lunar exploration mission operated by the China National Space Administration, incorporating a robotic lander and a rover.
Mr. Wu Zhijian, spokesman of the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defence, said: “The launch of the Chang’e 3 is part of the second stage of China’s three-stage plan, which includes orbiting, landing, analyzing and returning with lunar soil and stone samples.”

China will launch a lunar probe, Chang’e-3 in mid-December, a spokesman with the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defence announced on November 26 in Beijing.

Tasks of the Chang’e-3 include surveying the Moon’s geological structure and surface substances, while looking for natural resources.
Chang’e-3 lunar exploration mission is to boost international cooperation on space exploration and promote space education and awareness among the public, said a leading expert from the United States.
China launched lunar orbiters Chang’e 1 and Chang’e 2, in 2007 and 2010, respectively./.
