Doctor prosecuted after dumping woman body into river

Nguyen Manh Tuong, who dumped a woman body into Red River after she died at his own beauty salon, has been prosecuted for two offenses.

On November 1, a leader of Hanoi Police informed that they have prosecuted Tuong for violating health check regulations and interfering with human corpses, in accordance with the Penal Code.The salon’s guard, Dao Quang Khanh is also prosecuted for interfering with human corpses.


At the same time, the Hanoi People’s Procuracy has signed decision to detain Nguyen Manh Tuong and Dao Quang Khanh.


Lawyer Ta Quoc Cuong from Hanoi Bar Association said that with the current evidences and documents, the charges are reasonable. “When the body is found, the investigators can adjust or add more charges.” he said.


Tuong now has to face a 15-year prison sentence for violating health check regulations and five more years for interfering with human corpses. Khanh may also be sentenced to prison for five years.


Previously, Dr. Nguyen Manh Tuong, owner of Cat Tuong Beauty Salon on Giai Phong Street had accidentally killed a 39-year-old woman when he was carrying out breast surgery. After that, Tuong took the body to Vinh Tuy Bridge and dumped it into Red River. Meanwhile, it has also been discovered that Hanoi Department of Health had not granted permission to his salon to perform surgery.


Dao Quang Khanh, one of the security guards at Cat Tuong Salon, had helped Tuong dump the body into Red River. Currently, the victim’s body has still not been found.
