The traditional costumes of Russian women from the 18th century to the early 20th century are on display at an exhibition titled “Russian beauties – the country’s soul”, which opened at Ho Chi Minh Museum in Hanoi on November 11.

On display, in addition to the costumes, are various Russian handicrafts, such as embroidery, puppets and matryoshka dolls.

The event is held by Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with Russian Ministry of Culture to provide lovers of Russian culture with insight into the rich fine arts tradition of Russia. It is a part of the Russian Culture Days in Vietnam from November 7-17, to implement the cooperation programme in the field of culture between Vietnam and Russian Federation in the 2013 – 2015 period.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Mr Nguyen Van Tinh, Director of the International Cooperation Department under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said the event will help further consolidate and strengthen Vietnam-Russia cultural exchange in the future.

Russian Minister Counsellor Gennady Bezdetko said the activities of Russian Culture Days are taking place on the threshold of the visit to Vietnam by Russian President Vladimir Putin, which makes the event more meaningful./.
