Instead of investing a new project, in the coming time, the foreign investors may be licensed to sublet property in Vietnam. This is a new regulation proposed by the Ministry of Construction in the draft amended Real Estate Law which is about to be submitted to the Government.
Accordingly, the scope of doing business in the field of real estate of foreign organizations and individuals and Vietnamese residing abroad will be more open. Except from a number of activities and sectors under the current law provisions, in the near future, foreign investors will be licensed in subletting property. Especially, the draft regulated that foreign organizations and individuals and Vietnamese who settled down in foreign countries working the field of real estate, real estate investment businesses, representative offices of foreign enterprises, foreign investment funds, foreign bank branches operating in Vietnam will have rights to buy and own offices for work, rental, purchase, leasing in accordance with the current law.
