HCM CITY (VNS) – HCM City’s People’s Committee has approved a VND163 billion (US$7.76 million) plan to produce 300 buses running on compressed natural gas by 2015.
The project, conducted by the Sai Gon Mechanical Transportation Corporation (SAMCO), aims at reducing the pollution of the urban environment caused by fume discharge, saving fuel costs, and replacing out-of-date and substandard buses.
At present, there are 30 buses in the city fuelled by compressed natural gas, most of which were imported from South Korea. – VNS
