The “associated gas collection and gas lift in Rong – Doi Moi field” project, costing US$149.6 million, is a key investment project that Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) has assigned to PV GAS. The Southeast Gas Management Board is the investor representative and Vietsovpetro is a general turnkey contractor. The project was completed and put into operation in early 2011.
The goal of the project is to collect and recover associated gas in Rong and Doi Moi fields, Block 09-1 and Block 09-3, with estimated reserves of over 2.5 billion cubic metres. The gas is compressed by central gas compression rigs installed in Bach Ho field to bring ashore to serve power, fertiliser, industrial production and service companies.
The project has an important role in ensuring national energy security, with an initial capacity of collecting 0.9 million cubic metres of gas a day, or 328 million cubic metres a year. Key items of the project include gas pipelines, compressor rig and housing block. According to estimates, the daily value of gas brought ashore is US$155,000 or US$56.5 million annually.
