The provincial Traffic Safety (TS) Board, provincial Youth Union’s Standing Board, and Hai Duong College on the evening of 17 November co-organized a service to commemorate traffic fatalities.

Addressing the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Que, Vice Chairman of the Hai Duong provincial People’s Committee, extended his deep condolences and regards to unfortunate families of those dying from traffic accidents (TA).

Mr. Que pointed out severe consequences caused by TAs for every individual, every family, and the entire society; at the same time, affirmed this was the chance for each person to be more responsible for themselves and the community when engaging in traffic.

To diminish TAs, Mr. Que required levels and branches to continue intensifying propaganda, dissemination, and education of the law on ensuring traffic order and safety; patrols; handling of violations and TA black spots; and clearance of TS corridors.

At the ceremony, the participants lit candles and observed a minute of silence in memory of the traffic fatalities. The provincial TA Board presented gifts to five policy families whose relatives had met with traffic accidents and the Hai Duong city Youth Union’s volunteer youth team participating in order preservation.

According to statistics of the national TS Committee, there were 24,369 TAs across the country in the first 10 months of 2013, resulting in 7,812 deaths and 24,387 injuries.

In Hai Duong, 262 TAs occurred during the same period, killing 136 people and injuring 126 others.
