Until 11pm on November, Tuoi Tre’s readers as well as artists and audiences at the show “Dem Ket Noi Yeu Thuong” (The night to link love) has donated nearly VND9 billion (US$424,528) to raise fund to help children in flood regions in central Vietnam go to school.
The show was jointly held by the newspaper and the HCMC’s performance organizing and cinema center at Sen Hong Stage at 23/9 Park in District 1. More than 100 artists, namely singers Dam Vinh Hung, Nguyen Phi Hung, Ho Ngo Ha, Duong Trieu Vu, Dong Quan, Trang Nhung, saxophonist Tran Manh Tuan, comedian Xuan Huong, emcees Thanh Bach, and Quynh Hoa and many more, attended to perform at the night, as well as donated their own money.
Despite the heavy rain in the afternoon yesterday, the 1,500-seat stage was fulfill with local and expats who came to show their support to people who have suffered damage caused by the flood.
“We don’t understand what the artists sing but the melody is great. I’m happy to be here to learn more about Vietnamese love and culture, especially after knowing the show’s meaning,” Scheider from Belgium expressed.
The event also received donations from little audiences.
“I watched TV and saw friends in the flood regions don’t have books for school because their books got wet in the flood. I wanted to save money to give them so that they can buy books and pens,” Le My Phuong, a little girl at the 2nd grade, shared when coming with her mom to the show.
