(VOV) – Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security and Myanmar’s Ministry of Home Affairs have agreed to establish a deputy-ministerial security dialogue mechanism.
A document to this effect was signed at their first security dialogue in Hanoi on November 19 by Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Public Security To Lam and Myanmar Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Kyaw Kyaw Tun.
Lieutenant General To Lam said Vietnam is proud to play host to the first security dialogue between the two countries, materialising the result of ministerial talks during a Myanmar visit by Vietnamese Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang.
He said through such an annual dialogue, both sides will meet to share information and exchange views on measures to address non-traditional security challenges, especially in counterterrorism, the fight against crime, and national security protection, and in maintaining social order.
For his part, Major General Kyaw Kyaw Tun spoke highly of the effective cooperation between the two ministries and expressed his belief the result of the first security dialogue will contribute to deepening the friendly ties between Myanmar and Vietnam.
The same day, Kyaw Kyaw Tun was received by Minister Gen. Tran Dai Quang.
