The “Colours of Hanoi” exhibition, displaying 60 autochrome photos of Hanoi from the beginning of the 20th century, will take place at the French Culture Centre in Hanoi on December 6.
The exhibition will be organized by Ile-de-France and Hanoi People’s Committee under the framework of decentralized cooperation in the France-Vietnam year.
The exhibition consists of 60 autochrome photos designed by Emmanuel Poisson, a historian at Paris Diderot University and Đinh Trong Hieu, an anthropologist at the French National Centre for Scientific Research.
The autochrome photos, taken by the talented Leon Busy between 1914 and 1917, are colour photos on glass plates created by a process invented by the Lumière brothers in 1903, and will be presented to the public under two themes: daily life – business and society, and the environment and beliefs.
The exhibition is organized with the assistance of Albert Kahn Museum, Boulogne-Billancourt and Paris Diderot University./.
