PM approves socio-economic development project for Western Nghe An

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has signed Decision 2355/QD-TTg on December 4, approving a socio-economic development project for the west of the central province of Nghe An.

Under the decision, the province will strive to achieve average per capita income of VND25-26 million in 2015 and VND51-52 million in 2020.


Other targets of the project include: average economic growth rate of 12-13 percent for the 2013-2015 period and 11-12 percent for the 2016-2020 period, annual average budget revenue growth of 34-35 percent for the 2013-2015 period and 33-34 percent for the 2016-2020 period, and the rate of attendance among primary school age children of 99 percent.


In addition, average poverty reduction of 3-4 percent per annum for the 2013-2020 period, digital terrestrial television coverage for 100 percent of the population, 100 percent of communes having access to the national electricity grid, and forest coverage of 69 percent in 2015 and 75 percent in 2020, were included in the decision.


The decision also defined key tasks for the fields of agriculture, forestry and aquaculture, industry, construction, service and tourism, culture, society, science and technology, and environment.


Accordingly, the average growth rate goal for agriculture, forestry and aquaculture will be 5-6 percent per annum for the 2013-2014 period, and 4-5 percent per annum for the 2016-2020 period. Industry will have an average growth rate of 16-17 percent per annum for the 2016-2020 period, while health and health care strives to provide medical insurance for 100 percent of nearly-poor households until 2013.


The project will require VND148 trillion, including VND35 trillion for the 2013-2015 period and VND113 trillion for the 2016-2020 period./.
