QUANG NAM (VNS) — Authorities of the central Quang Nam Province yesterday confirmed that they were still searching for the remains of three gold miners who were buried in a collapse on Friday.

Officials said the accident occurred when an illegal gold mine collapsed in Phuoc Son District’s Phuoc Hiep Commune.

The pit caved at around 9pm on Friday, but the victims have not yet been found due to the large amount of soil and rock covering them, as well as difficulties in assessing the location of the men.

The deceased, aged 20-29 years, were identified as being from Kim Boi District in the northern Hoa Binh Province.

An investigation into the cause of the collapse is ongoing.—VNS
