Get-together for Vietnamese in Algeria

(VOV) – The Vietnamese Embassy in Algeria on January 16 hosted a reception for Vietnamese people living and working there.


Ambassador Vu The Hiep briefed participants on Vietnam’s political, socio-economic situation, as well as the traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Algeria.


Despite in small numbers, every Vietnamese resident helps promote the country’s land, culture and people in Algeria, he said.


Hiep expressed his hope the Vietnamese community will uphold the tradition of mutual assistance, preserve cultural identity, including Vietnamese language, and educate younger generations about their roots.


He proposed the community assist Vietnamese businesses operating in Algeria to deepen trade ties between the two countries.


Hiep said the embassy will support the Liaison Board of the community in increasing its membership and keeping Overseas Vietnamese abreast of information in the homeland.


There are nearly 400 Vietnamese nationals residing in Algeria, excluding those of the second and third generations.
